Values Clarification
This values clarification worksheet helps you name what matters most to you, rate how fully you are living each value, and choose one small values-aligned action for the week ahead.
Values are directions, not destinations
Values describe how you want to live, not what you want to achieve. A goal can be finished, like getting the job or running the race, but a value like honesty or connection is a direction you can keep moving in for your whole life. That is good news. You can act on a value today, in some small way, whatever your circumstances look like. There is no falling behind and no finish line.
When values clarification helps
Values clarification is useful when you feel stuck, flat, or pulled in too many directions at once. Naming your values gives you a compass for decisions and a way to notice when daily life has drifted from what matters. Work through the steps below slowly and answer honestly. There are no right answers here; choose what is true for you, not what would sound good to someone else.

Read the list and check every value that genuinely matters to you. Notice that values live in different areas of life: relationships, health, work, learning, and community.
Choose your top five and rate each one
Narrow everything you checked down to the five values that matter most right now. Next to each one, rate from 1 to 10 how fully you have been living it over the past month: 1 means it gets almost no room in your life, 10 means your daily choices reflect it closely.
Pick one value to focus on
Look for the biggest gap between how much a value matters and how much room it currently gets. That gap is usually the best place to start.
Plan one values-aligned action
Values become real through action. Choose one small step this week that moves you in the direction of your chosen value, concrete enough that you will know for certain whether you did it.
How confident are you?
How confident are you that you will take this step in the next seven days? If your number is below 7, shrink the step until the number rises. A tiny step you take beats an impressive one you skip.
Reflect on what you noticed
Take a moment to look back over the whole worksheet before you finish.
