Self Discovery Sentence Completion

Use classic sentence completion stems to surface what you really think about yourself, your needs, your fears, and your relationships - then review your answers for patterns.

How sentence completion works

Sentence completion is a classic therapy tool with a simple move: you read the beginning of a sentence and finish it with the first true thing that arrives. Speed matters more than polish. First answers often carry information your careful, editing mind would smooth over. A few ground rules. Do not overthink. Let contradictions stand - you can be two opposite things at once. If a stem stings a little, that is usually where the good material lives. There are no wrong answers, only honest and less honest ones.

Who you are

Finish each stem quickly, with the first honest ending that comes. I am at my best when... People would be surprised to learn that I... The part of myself I hide most often is... I feel most like myself when...

What you need

Keep the pace up. First answers. I need more... I protect myself by... It is hard for me to ask for... When I am running on empty, I...

What you fear

These may sting. Go quickly anyway. I worry that one day... If people really knew me, they would... I avoid... because... The feeling I most want to escape is...

What you hope

Now turn toward what pulls you. If I were not afraid, I would... A year from now, I hope... I still believe... The life I keep imagining includes...

Your relationships

Last set. Stay quick. I feel loved when... I pull away when... The people closest to me get my... Something I have never said out loud to someone I love is...

The stem that stopped you

Which sentence was hardest to finish, or surprised you most with its answer?

How honest could you be?
